I bumped into Marcus today—at the cafe downstairs. He was with his department colleagues, seemingly enjoying an extended coffee break.
That was a bit odd, I have to admit. He’d just texted that he’d be so loaded with work in the next three days that he won’t have time for anything else in between.
Oh well, we are going on a date naman on Friday—so why am I bothered that he’s not having coffee with me?
Yup, despite my work load, my mind just keeps going back to Kathy’s party—and the way Marcus had been towards me that night. I swear, he was like a different person—not at all like the cool and collected Marcus I know at the office! That night, he was definitely more forward. But then again, I was also a bit buzzed myself.
When he left the party (he had to work the next day), he even texted me:
“M home na. Ingat when going home. Gud nyt!”
I can’t get over it talaga. Yes! I can die now!

I swear, I was humming all day. Four days to go before my big date with Marcus! We agreed to have dinner somewhere in Ortigas, then a movie. I already have visions of romantic moments and delicious, spine-tingling moments. I love this feeling!
“Ikaw ha,” Paeng’s teasing voice jolted me back to earth. He was standing by my desk again, two thick folders of client materials on each hand. “You didn’t dance with me at Kathy’s party.”
“Paeng, please, let’s just work today,” I pleaded, getting up and grabbing the folders from him.
“Joke lang,” he backtracked. “Hey, you look nice—not hung over at all like the rest of us!”
Argh. Paeng was being so damn nice again. At that moment, I actually felt guilty for not talking to him at all at the party.
“Tell me, though—why was that guy Marcus all over you?” I looked at him, startled. Had everyone noticed?
“I know it’s none of my business,” he continued, “but, kayo na ba?”
I sighed. I wish, I thought to myself. Sana nga!
