Sizzle, Sizzle in Singapore!

I totally missed the bagyo. The day the storm hit Manila, I boarded a plane for Singapore for a press trip sponsored by the Singapore Tourism Board. We were the last flight out. And believe me, it was an incredibly bumpy ride. So bumpy that I wasn’t able to eat the food served on the plane…which I usually polish off in 10 minutes, haha.
The trip was super fun. It was work but it was good because I was able to forget the deskwork back home. A change of scenery is always refreshing.
I was with two other Pinoy journalists, and the pace was steady. The Singaporean guides were very gracious and knew their city like the back of their hand. Singapore is nice, clean, and progressive, if a bit claustrophobic for me. The highlights of my days were the art exhibits we went to, mainly the Singapore Biennale at Singapore’s Tanglin Camp (check out their site at www.singaporebiennale.org). The art installations by Asian artists just blew me away! We also ate in nice restaurants like My Humble House (the décor was anything but humble), and watched this play at The Esplanade that made me cry. It was called The Portrait of An Empress (aka the Dragon Lady) and the lead singer was a Pinay. Can’t wait to write my travel story. Watch out for it in the coming months!
I went home to a stuffy, sweaty, aircon-less airport in Manila. When I got home, the lights were still out after a whopping four days and candles were being sold in the street for P250 a piece (well, it was a big piece). Ayayay! But why do I feel so happy to be home? ;-D

Hi Claire,
Indeed, you are an epitome of an empowered woman! From blogs, to books, and feature articles, your write-ups are great! My favorites include the NBSB paperback, and the article in Cosmo where you flaunted a hot-pink bikini! You’re such a Fashionista! And your passion for writing makes you stand out too! Truly you exemplify the fun & fearless female!

HANA
