I joined Kat for her fashion ed shoot, a day that started with pouring rain, not the most welcome weather for a sunny, pre-summer fashion story! We met at 7:30am at the office, and from there on I saw the logistics and potential problems involved, and decided to document Kat’s day.
Check it out, and you’ll never look at a fashion story the same way again:

Last Sunday, I made my way through ABS-CBN’s busy, busy studio to guest on ANC Life with host Daphne Oseña-Paez, together with editors in chief Myrza Sison and Pauline Juan for our December issues.
The gargantuan network has a maze of a ground floor, and as I tried to find my way to Studio 6, I happily got lost and found myself outside Shaina, Maja and Rayver’s dressing room. Then, I got supershy and ducked out instead of saying hi, what a loser!

It’s been three weeks since I got back from what may have been the most important thing that’s happened to me at Cosmo this year. Red, Claire, and I were invited last October to COSMIC, the Cosmopolitan Editors International Conference in New York, a big convergence of the world’s Cosmo editors from a whopping 57 editions! It was…fantastic. We were billeted at the Hudson Hotel, a block away from the amazing Hearst Tower, new home to our family of magazines such as Good Housekeeping, Seventeen, O (The Oprah Magazine), Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar, and Cosmo Girl!
Arriving in New York to meet all the editors and art directors of Cosmos from around the globe was too exciting that I couldn’t sleep. But on top of all that, I couldn’t get over the fact that I was in New York with Red and Claire! The conference went as such: breakfast at the Hearst Tower (cereals, fruit, juices, coffees, pastries, and lots of chatting with co-editors), presentations from editors, authors, Hearst team members, and guest speakers, lunch, more presentations, some free time, then a special dinner for each evening.

It’s been weeks since I came home from New York and I am back bursting with fresh new ideas for Cosmo, (thanks to COSMIC 2006, the Cosmopolitan Editors’ International Conference held in NYC), a rosier perspective in life (thanks to 20-hour plane rides and days of solo wandering in a new city), and an updated phonebook (thanks to wonderful new friends, with whom I am determined to stay in touch with).
I was able to spend a few days more in New York—an extension made more wonderful by lots of old friends and my cousin, Carmela, with whom I stayed with in the Bronx. It’s been years since I’ve seen her; I remember how my family and I would always pass by their house in Barotac Viejo, my mom’s hometown, on our way to my Dad’s hometown in Carles, Iloilo. They would have piles of foreign magazines in the sala, which I would devour while waiting for the adults to finish their chika.
